Job Description:
The Interdisciplinary Research Institutes are looking for part-time help with IT Support. We maintain a heterogeneous network consisting of Windows, Mac OS, and Linux systems.

This job entails user support, diagnosing hardware, software, and network problems, configuring, installing, and maintaining laptops, workstations, and servers, packaging software, and some AV and printer support. We utilize remote desktop tools and receive request via ticketing systems. We work with a wide variety of IT and non-IT staff and faculty across campus. Generally, we do whatever is necessary to keep people up and running. Basic computer knowledge and hardware troubleshooting background is of high interest. The most important quality is a willingness to learn and a commitment to building positive client relationships.

We support users and labs across whose locations range from the Coda area to the Carbon-Neutral Energy Solutions Lab area. Traveling across campus is an important requirement.

The level of commitment would be around 10-20 hours per week if a student is taking classes. Full-time work is desired during breaks but not required. Hourly rates are competitive. The work environment is relaxed. Work times are flexible but the individual must be reliable. We need availability during the week from 8 AM to 5 PM. No weekend support required.

Summer Research Assistant – Machine Learning Applications in Climate Change Impacts

Job Description:
The Climate Risk & Extreme Events Dynamics Group at the School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, Georgia Tech, is seeking a highly motivated upper-level undergraduate or graduate student for a full-time Summer Research Assistant position. The selected candidate will contribute to cutting-edge research at the intersection of machine learning (ML) and climate impact modeling, with a focus on extreme weather events such as hurricanes.

Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement state-of-the-art machine learning models, including but not limited to Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), Long Short-Term Memory networks (LSTMs), Transformers, Diffusion Models, Graph Neural Networks (GNNs), and Reinforcement Learning, applied to climate-related datasets.
• Process, curate, and analyze large-scale datasets related to hurricanes and their associated hazards.
• Run climate-impact simulations; document code, methodologies, and results for reproducibility.
• Contribute to the preparation of scientific manuscripts and project reports.

Qualifications:
• Currently enrolled as an upper-level undergraduate or graduate student in Computer Science or a closely related field.
• Strong programming skills in Python, with prior experience developing and implementing machine learning models at an advanced level.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary research team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Important: This is a technically demanding position. Applicants must demonstrate advanced proficiency in machine learning. If you do not have significant experience in this area, we kindly ask that you do not apply.
